Changes to the Benefice
In 2013 Clopton became part of a wider benefice grouping. For many years it had worked collaboratively with Otley, Swilland and Askbocking, sharing a half time priest, but in January 2013, that grouping was joined by Grundisburgh, Hasketon, Burgh and Boulge, to create an 8 parish benefice wich is now known as the Carlford Benefice after the old Hundred of that name- which included many of our villages.
The Benefice is served by a Ministry Team, the Revd Canon Clare Sanders has the responsibility of oversight, and shares ministry with ordained and lay colleagues. Elder Ministry is being introduced across the benefice, with 3 serving Elders in Hasketon and Burgh, and future Elders being commissioned in Clopton and Grundisburgh. Elder ministry is at grass roots level, sharing in pastoral care and assisting with the leadership of services. We also have the services of a retired Bishop, another retired clergyman, and a serving Diocesan officer.
