Changes to the Benefice
In 2013 Clopton became part of a wider benefice grouping. For many years it had worked collaboratively with Otley, Swilland and Askbocking, sharing a half time priest, but in January 2013, that grouping was joined by Grundisburgh, Hasketon, Burgh and Boulge, to create an 8 parish benefice wich is now known as the Carlford Benefice after the old Hundred of that name- which included many of our villages. In 2020 we were joined by Culpho benefice which means that we are now a benefice of nine.
The Benefice is served by a Ministry Team, the Revd Katrina Dykes has the responsibility of oversight, and shares ministry with ordained and lay colleagues. Elder Ministry has been introduced across the benefice, with Elders in Hasketon, Burgh, Clopton , Ashbocking and Grundisburgh. Elder ministry is at grass roots level, sharing in pastoral care and assisting with the leadership of services. We also have the services of a retired clergyman, and a serving Diocesan officer.
