The Way of Life
"Have you ever noticed a tree standing naked against the sky,
How beautiful it is?
All its branches are outlined, and in its nakedness
There is a poem, there is a song.
Every leaf is gone and it is waiting for the spring.
When the spring comes, it again fills the tree with
The music of many leaves,
Which in due season fall and are blown away.
And this is the way of life."

There have been many hundreds of burials in the churchyard, but there are only relatively few memorial stones. A list of known burials up to 1900, transcribed from the Parish Burial Records, can be downloaded here.

The churchyard was mapped in 2005 and a burial plan is available in the Church. The list of graves is available for download here.

Many of the gravestones have been photographed and are available on the Gravestone Photographic Resource website:

If you have any information about any of the memorials or the people who are buried in the Churchyard, please contact us using the form below. Similarly, if you are researching any Clopton families contact us and if we can help we will be pleased to do so.
